麻省理工学院STEAM挑战活动MITSTEAMChallenge
在过去几个月中,中、小学学生积极运用STEAM技能进行构思和创意设计。小学生利用ECA活动时间进行了“探索纸管”的挑战,而中学生开展了STEAM工作坊,创建网页,并探究如何实现“可持续发展”的全球目标。
在开启麻省理工学院活动之初,我们邀请学生提交申请信,阐述各自能够代表学校参加活动的理由。中、小学生纷纷提交申请书,表达了各自的强烈意愿,并且思考透彻、条理分明。本周日,从四年级、六年级和七年级选拔出的四位同学,谢明涵(四年级橡树班),顾宇涵(四年级柳树班),李昊洋(六年级橡树班),尚熙文(七年级榉树班)将前往麻省理工学院,参加为期一周的STEAM活动。麻省理工学院的顶尖专家将为学生开展生动有趣的活动,学生将有机会与来自世界各地的同伴—起学习,共同协作。除此之外,他们还将参观两所世界优秀院校——麻省理工学院及哈佛大学。STEAM周的所有活动均由诺德安达教育集团和麻省理工学院共同设计,旨在加深学生对STEAM的了解,锻炼他们的跨学科学习能力及解决问题的能力。
明年,学生将有更多机会参加全球及区域组织的STEAM活动。
Over the last few months, students in both Primary and Secondary have had the opportunity to link their STEAM skills with their own creative designs and ideas. Students from Primary have been using their ECA times to ‘hack the tube’, a challenge set to all Nord Anglia students from MIT. Secondary, students have been doing STEAM workshops to create webpages on how the Global Goal ‘Sustainable development’ can applied to where they live.
To apply to attend MIT STEAM challenge, students were asked to write a letter of application stating why they should be chosen to represent NACIS Shanghai at MIT. Both Primary and Secondary received strong, thought-through and well-structured application letters. This Sunday, four students, 4 Oak Marilyn Xie, 4 Willow Johnny Gu, 6 Oak Michael Li, 7 Beech Mia Shang will have the exciting prospect of going to MIT and take part in a week long interactive STEAM workshop. Students will have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers from all over the world and participate in exciting workshops and activities delivered by leading MIT academics, as well as touring the campuses of two of the best universities in the world (MIT and Harvard University). The activities have been co-created by NAE and MIT to increase students’ understanding of STEAM, while developing their interdisciplinary learning and practical problem-solving skills.
Over the next year, there will be more opportunities for the students to participate in STEAM activities, globally and regionally.
