纽约前市长布隆伯格莱斯大学毕业典礼演讲想要体验当地大学生的生活

5月12日，德州莱斯大学举行2018届毕业典礼，美国纽约市前市长布隆伯格应邀出席并发表了关于诚实的主题演讲。在正式演讲之前，他讲述了自己到达德州后为体验当地大学生生活所做的趣事，以幽默风趣的话语赢得了阵阵欢呼声，在拉近彼此距离的最后他告诉大学生们，相信他们能突破过去，并达到意想不到的明天！

现在，说实话，我今天早上差点没能来到这
Now, the truth be told, I almost didn’t make it here this morning

我一大早就开车去了校园
I drove over to the campus bright and early

但我花了几个小时去寻找一个停车位
but I spent hours looking for a parking spot

最后我在米村公寓找到一个停车位
I finally found one at Rice Village Apartments

可能已经收到了一张罚单并且我要从那搭车到这里
Probably already got a ticket and had to get a ride from there to here

and when I accepted this invitation

我告诉布朗校长让他给我提供一些有用的提议
I told President Leebron for me to impart any useful advice

我真的需要去感受一下作为一名这里的学生的感觉
I really had to get a feel for what it was like to be a student here

所以当我昨晚到达休斯顿的时候
So when I did arrive last night in Houston

我直接去了Whataburger并点了蜂蜜黄油鸡肉汉堡
I went straight to Whataburger and ordered a honey butter chicken biscuit

毫无疑问，物理教育课是本科生的要求
No wonder LAPA,the physical education class is an undergraduate requirement

但是我需要一些东西来把它洗掉
But then I needed something to wash it down

不幸的是，我只剩下一些零钱了
Unfortunately I only had some loose change left

so I walked over to the Valhalla for a Lone Star

I got some dirty looks there they must have thought I was an undergrad

After that I snuck into the football stadium

我在青蛙墙边学着呱呱叫，甚至爬上了这座四轴飞行器上著名的雕像的顶端
I made the Frog wall croak,I even climbed to the top of the famous statue right here in this quad

但是很高兴能了解校园也能看到一些校外的景点，比如布朗学院
But it’s been great to know the campus and also to see some off-campus spots like Brown College

并且很有趣的是了解到了这里的寄宿学校之间的竞争
And it was fun to learn about the rivalry among the residential colleges here

我想这是个平局除了马特尔，所有人都知道那不是一所大学
I think it’s a tie except from Martel,everyone knows that’s not a college

我很高兴能知道当“猫头鹰”是什么感觉
I have enjoyed getting to know what it’s like to be an owl

我很抱歉我今天就要离开
I’m just sorry that I have to leave today

因为我很期待要参加一个重要的稻米传统
because I was looking forward to participating in an important Rice tradition

that takes place on the 13th of every month the Baker 13th

Parents if you don’t know what it is,don’t ask unless you want the naked truth

I was also sorry to having missed beer bike

I actually spent months training for it but then I got here and found out

我的训练应该集中在骑自行车上而不是在发出轧轧声前进
my workout should have been focused on biking instead of chugging

我觉得我比你们做的要好笑
I thought that was funnier than you did

并且我也很后悔去年使所有人疯狂的暴风雪来临的时候我不在这里
and I regret that I wasn’t here for last year’s snowstorm that had everyone going crazy

它只有两英寸，来吧！
It was only two inches,come on!

也许暴风雪是德州唯一不那么大的东西
maybe a snowstorm is the only thing that’s not bigger in Texas

好吧，不管怎样，你们熬过了
Well,anyways,you survived it

你们通过了其他寄宿学校的小伙子们
and you’ve also made it through a few jacks by other residential colleges

分享了几个晚上的颓废，我指的不是肉桂卷星期三
and shared a few nights of decadence and I don’t mean cinnamon roll Wednesdays

但是你们都知道历史，今天我们已经准备好超越这些阻碍
But all of you know the history and today we’re ready to go beyond the hedges

谁知道你的未来会怎样
and who knows what the future holds for you
