Job Description

The Department of Stomatology of the Faculty of Dental Medicine ofUniversité de Montréal invites applications for an assistant professor in thefield of neural network plasticity and integrative neuroscience. The idealcandidate will combine electrophysiology and molecular approaches and/or viralvectors, with novel optical techniques or high-resolution structural imaging,to explore cellular functions or neuronal networks in vitro and/or in vivo,associated for instance with orofacial neurophysiology or chronic pain.

Taking advantage of a partnership established with the Faculty of Medicineand support from the CNS Research Group, the candidate will hold a secondaryappointment at the Department of Neuroscience of the Faculty of Medicine, andwill integrate a dynamic group of researchers active in the fields of neuralnetwork plasticity and learning with strong expertise in cell mechanisms ofmemory, neuron-glia interactions, and motor control, investigated in normal andpathological systems.

Requirements

• Ph.D. (or equivalentdegree) in Neuroscience or in a related Postdoctoral fellowship must becompleted by the date of entry in function expertise in the fields ofneuroplasticity and integrative neuroscience, with a strong experience in cell biologyand structural imaging

• Demonstrated interestin the study of the molecular mechanisms of normal cell functions and diseasestates; applicability of the research program to the areas of orofacialneurophysiology or chronic pain will be considered an asset

• The language ofinstruction at the Université de Montréal is French; the selected candidatemust be sufficiently proficient in spoken and written French, or be determinedto become proficient within the first three years and according to the linguisticpolicy of the University

Postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Sankar Ghosh,Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Columbia University Irving MedicalCenter, New York. We are looking for highly motivated candidates with a backgroundin cellular or molecular immunology to join our team.  A number ofexciting projects are available in the areas of cancer immunology and theregulation of inflammatory signaling (please seehttp://www.microbiology.columbia.edu/faculty/ghosh.html for a description ofprojects and a list of notable publications).  The candidate should haverecently obtained a Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g. immunology, cancer biology,cell signaling or gene regulation).
