    In this talk Prof.Liu will first introduce the seismogenic cycle with the latest knowledge the geophysical community are generally agreed upon, i.e., the stages of inter-seismic, pre-seismic, co-seismic, and post-seismic and possible correspondent variations in some of the geophysical fields.Then focus on the observed facts and theoretical background of the lithosphere-atmosphere-ionosphere coupling (LAIC) in the frequency band from tidal frequency to tens of Hertz. Prof.Liu will discuss a few published LAIC observations in this frequency band associated with co-seismic and pre-seismic steps. Finally, Prof.Liu will present his idea on the causes of atmospheric pressure perturbation around milli-Hertz range and its (possible) association with earthquakes to discuss with the audience.

报告人简介

        刘澜波教授 (Lanbo Liu)毕业于北京大学（本科，硕士），斯坦福大学硕士，博士，华盛顿卡耐基研究院博士后，现任康涅狄格大学地球物理教授，土木与环境工程教授. 已在国际学术期刊发表SCI检索论文80多篇，研究内容包括工程与应用地球物理和理论地球物理。总他引次数超过2,800次.

        刘澜波教授在《科学》（Science）杂志上发表 利用现代ＧＰＳ观测技术和传统的大地测量技术来研究板内地震震间应变积累并由此估算大地震重发周期的开创性工作，在地震学界引起了广泛注意. 他也是美国富布赖特奖学金（Fulbright Scholarship）获得者。富布赖特奖学金计划建立于1946，是世界上最有名望的奖学金计划。在该奖学金获得者中，至少有43人后来成为诺贝尔奖得主，至少有78人后来成为普利策奖得主。

        作为访问学者，刘澜波教授曾在国际上众多高校(斯坦福大学, 挪威科技大学，北京大学，山东大学，中国地质大学,等)和研究机构（美国国家航空航天局（NASA），斯伦贝谢-道尔研究中心(Schlumberger-Doll Research)，等）短期工作,交流。

        刘澜波教授热心于学术服务，曾作为同行评议审稿人为60多种国际学术期刊的数百篇文章审稿； 并曾任如下学术期刊的副主编：《Geophysics》《Journal of Environmental and Engineering Geophysics》《Journal of Earth Science》《Journal of Applied Geophysics》《Geodesy and Geodynamics》.
