The Position

A joint postdoctoral research fellowship is available between Jennie Lill in the Microchemistry, Proteomics & Lipidomics (MPL) Department, within the Research & Development division of Genentech, and the laboratory of Josh Elias in the Department of Chemical & Systems Biology at Stanford’s School of Medicine.

The successful applicant will investigate the effects small molecule inhibitors of key oncogenic pathways have on tumor immunity. They will use mass spectrometry and immunological methods to characterize how MHC class I and Class II peptide repertoires are altered by these treatments. This work will help the cancer immunotherapy community develop an improved mechanistic understanding of T cell mediated immunity, a deeper understanding of key biochemical and cellular processes related to pathway perturbation, and will aid in the design of combinatorial T cell mediated therapeutic approaches.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in either tumor immunity or Proteomics/Analytical Chemistry. They should have a strong understanding of T cell mediated immunity, experience with mass spectrometry, and evidence of strong computational, writing, and interpersonal skills. The candidate should be able to trouble shoot effectively and work independently. The successful candidate will be traveling between two campuses and will become attuned to life in both industry and academia.
